Clean Up Australia Day.

Clean Up Australia Day

Clean Up Australia Day is held on the first Sunday of March every year and encourages people to clean up their local areas.
Clean Up Day was first held in 1989 by Ian Kiernan .Clean Up Australia has grown to include other projects such as business and school. After gaining the support of the United Nationals Environment Programme, Clean Up the World was launched in 1993.
Clean Up Australia Day is a great example of when people work together to improve our environment.
Activities on the Clean Up Day include removing large items and the collection of rubbish lying around so the volunteers should have a rubbish bags and gloves.
Every year thousands of tonnes of rubbish are collected around the country. (In the past 20 year, approximately over 200 000 tonnes of rubbish).
Every person should think about the planet and be very active in Clean Up Australia Day.
